Ronnie,
There are two reasons I think your WOTY award is well deserved.
Firstly, you know *so* much and freely share that knowledge.
Secondly, your approach to the user group embodies the spirit of
helping. I'm not sure why some people feel the need to get involved
in voluntary online groups/forums, and spend their time telling
others (in various ways) that they should read manuals more / search
more rather than asking a question. Pointless at best, unfriendly/
rude at worst (like your RTFM friend). Others - like you - just
help when and if they choose to. Simple, friendly and helpful.
Forums work so well when there are people like you involved.
Glenn.

Good morning WAMUGers.
Thank you to everyone who has said such kind words. I'm really
overwhelmed!
I feel very humbled and also slightly embarrassed.
In fact 'I'm stuck for words' (which Daniel & a few who know me
will find hard to believe).
I don't expect accolades for helping people. Helping people gives
me a good feeling.
There are so many extremely talented people on our list that give
so much of their knowledge, experience, professional advice, and
time, and I commend each and every one of them.
A few years back when I first started using a computer, (I had
never touched a computer until I retired and decided I needed a new
challenge), I was having a problem with an external burner I had
purchased. It took me some time to get enough courage to post a
message asking for help.
A person responded with ..... "RTFM" .....!
At that time I didn't even know what RTFM meant ;-)
I eventually corrected the fault myself (not by reading 'TFM'), but
did not post a message again for a very very long time.
What I did do was start researching everything I could find about
Macintosh Computers and how they work. I purchased so many books,
subscribed to so many Mac magazines, downloaded information.
I had a good 'Mentor' in Mark Heeler who showed me how to replace a
HD in my iMacDV.
After awhile I was able to take my iMacDV apart & put it back
together again. I found it 'scary stuff' but managed to do it.
I still find getting inside my computers 'scary stuff' (as Daniel
Kerr knows).
Daniel has taught me so much over the years. I have found Daniel to
be the most knowledgeable Mac Computer person around. What Daniel
doesn't know about Macs is not worth knowing!
So I guess what I'm trying to say (other than a huge thank you), is
we all experience problems at some time and need help. If we can
help each other that is what we do .... 'It's the Mac Way' !
Thanks again, I have very much appreciated this. Cloe also sends
her thanks to Wendy & Reg and is so pleased 'someone understands
what she has to put up with' ;-)
Cheers,
Ronni & Cloe

WAMUGER OF THE YEAR for her unstinting & enthusiastic support of

immensly helpfull & instructive to us so that we in turn can help

been an essential lifeline. Thanks Ronnie & Ciao > Philip
