Hi every1, I've found a workaround for the encoding - although it's not ideal.
I used MovieGate to encode the AVI file and create the disc image, then used TOAST 8 to burn it (although Moviegate can probably burn it as well..) I still have not been able to get TOAST to do both the conversion and the burning despite getting the correct a52 codec...it's still creating lovely silent movies... :) Oh well...
