Thanks Severin,
I ran through your nuclear reboot process, and it helped resolve the
problem. All working now.
The file /etc/printcap shows the current printers defined on your
local system.

I forgot to add that Reset Printing System in Printer Setup not only
deletes all queues and printers but seem to tidy up other things as well

I have been having similar problems having just installed AE base
station to service a MacBook which travels around the house and out
to my wife's studio. The printer is plugged into the AE base
station USB port. The laptop talks by wireless only but an iMac and
a G5 are connected by ethernet into the router. The AE connects in
there by ethernet also. Previously the iMac and the G5 used the
printer as a Shared Printer. I have had problems similar to yours
which I think are now fixed. In m y case I turned off Printer
sharing on all three machines. Likewise, on all three, with Printer
Setup I deleted that printer in any manifestation it might have
presented as. (I have two physical printers with several driver
options). I then reinstalled the printer software for that printer
(an Epson SP720) with the latest version downloaded from Epson.
Then, on each machine I re-added that printer, which shows up under a
Bonjour connection. I believe it is all now working as it should and
all three machines see and access that printer. At one point in all
this I needed to power down and reboot the AE base station.
Stick with it and I am sure it will all happen for you. I believe
the problem is at the Add printer bit, especially when there are
several possibilities available. Printer Setup Repair was not able
to achieve anything.
Have a good day

Hi everyone,
I'm using a Samsung CLP-300 colour laser printer. Cost $350 from
Harvey Norman, and is excellent. Great print quality, fast, quiet,
small footprint, 5c/page bw 10c colour. The Samsung SmartPanel app
comes with the install, and has the ugliest application icon on
earth. Doesn't help it auto runs and can't be shut down - you have
to uninstall using the original installation app).
However I'm having trouble connecting to it via my Airport Express
(with Airtunes)
When I first installed it, I plugged the printer USB cable into the
AE, and tried to print. Worked first time, and we used it for a few
weeks that way. Then one day I couldn't see the printer any more.
Eventually I plugged in directly via USB, and it works fine. I'd
like to get back to sharing the printer via AE. Does anyone have
any suggestions on what I can do to fix?
Here is what I've tried (courtesy of Apple Help)
- uninstalled all printers
- connected via USB and test print
- connect via AE, printer is now visible in list of Bonjour printers
- when I try to test print, the job goes to the print queue. I get
the message 'CUPS v1.1.20 is ready to print', then a delay, then
'Unable to connect to printer (retrying in 30 seconds). Operation
timed out.
I've tried this with both the drivers on the install CD, as well as
latest drivers from samsung.com
Thanks if you can assist.
Glenn.
