Thanks everyone,
as per the suggestions

I tried
eyesight http://www.klieme.com/EyeSight.html
okay, slow, doesn't work with iglasses, so indoor image a bit dark

and mullesight http://www.mulle-kybernetik.com/software/MulleSight/
works with glasses, saves shot to clipboard
does the job

isnap widget
http://www.acdesigns.biz/widgets/

widgets are working for me?

and iChat
using the built in take snapshot feature, saves a shot to desktop
doesn't seem to active iglasses - shame
otherwise works fine!

I also found out
Quicktime Pro can do it ( which I have)
http://lists.apple.com/archives/QuickTime-API/2006/Feb/msg00244.html

I made a 10 sec video, then saved as 1 frame/sec stills and just chose the ones I wanted out of the 10 saved to the HD

so out of all these I reckon either iChat ( comes with the mac)
and mullesight,

anyway these are the pics taken of the model http://picasaweb.google.com/dornworks/DenmarkModelJune2007
