I recently replaced my 17" G4 PowerBook with a 17" MacBook Pro with Core 2
Duo. At the same time, I replaced my dome shaped 802.11g Airport Extreme
with the new 802.11n Airport Extreme.

I'm yet to experience any noticeable difference in speed or range, but I'm
wondering if this may be due to the fact that I also have an Airport Express
operating on the same wireless network?

Would my MacBook Pro be accessing the 802.11n speed of the Airport Extreme,
or would the inclusion of the 802.11g Airport Express on the network mean
that the network slows to 802.11g speeds? If so, is there any way to easily
disable the Airport Express whilst I'm not using it, but easily turn it on
if I want to use it for its primary purpose? (which is streaming music to my
hifi speakers).

The reasons I thought it best to have the Airport Express on the same
network as the Airport Extreme include being able to access the internet and
stream music to my hifi speakers simultaneously, and also I thought that the
Airport Express would boost the range of the network (the Extreme is
downstairs in a room that isn't used much; and the Express is in the
commonly used lounge room upstairs, plugged into the hifi).

Many thanks, Steven
