One last try

I have purchased a Panasonic SDR H20 Video Camera

It ships with a USB cable for transfer to a computer and an Svideo cable for TV connection

The TV aspect works fine but I cannot get movies on to my Mac Mini via the USB cable.

Specifications say the recording media is an SD memory Card - SDHC, and a 30GB HDD

The camera will record and play back via both the card and the hard disk on the camera itself. However, what is required on the MacMini to enable recognition of the .mov files recorded by the camera.

It appears that buying the camera is only part 1. PC users receive software to automatically accept the movie but Macintosh owners have to flounder around without any assistance from the manual, etc. I purchased on an understanding that the cameras were drag and drop.

Is there anyone in our community able to direct me away from this futile floundering darkness

I have downloaded MPEG Streamclip but it requires further payment for a plug in. I read of your comments about iMovie 8 - is that the answer? BTW, I come to this forum having checked many sites.

Sometimes new technology should be left to a small minority of experts until it becomes old technology me thinks

TIA
