piano keyboard to use with a Mac

Hi all, a friend who is a professional composer and musician is  
looking at buying a keyboard to use with a Mac, and we were wondering  
if anyone has ideas or experience with using a keyboard, partly for  
ease of input into musical scores with Finale or Sebelius, but also  
wants a keyboard that is playable as a stand alone. cheers, Susan.
