A couple of things :

This is an AVCHD camera, so be aware that only the latest versions of FCP/iMovie will be able to work with it natively. Not even sure if there are useful workarounds for the earlier versions. This goes for all non-linera editors - it's a new tech only recently added to editing software.

These reviews always go on about how small and light the cameras are, but in reality, small and light makes for wobbly pictures. This is the reason that TV grade cameras are still so large - they have large anchor space on the camo's shouler and are easier to move around smoothly. Not that there is a lot of choice in the con/prosumer area, but something to think about. Smaller is not always better.

The PS3/Blur Ray/HD TV thing is reference to the fact that if you shoot HD (and this is ..'cheated', highly compressed HD, like HDV) then you won't be able to see it *in all it's full size glory* unless you watch it using HD capable gear. You will still be able to watch it on normal tvs, but won't get the same clarity.

And one more thing about cameras that record to hard drives. You need to erase the drives when they get full. That means no camera tapes, and that means no backup or archive.

None of these things are deal breakers, of course. Just good things to know beforehand.

Hi WAMUGers
I'm looking at getting a High Def video Cam
This one gets good reviews.
I want to use it with iMovie and Final Cut.
It has a hard drive, firewire, and says: Video capture format(s)MPEG

Sony Handycam HDR-SR7
http://www.cnet.com.au/camcorders/camcorders/0,239035915,339278831,00.htm

What do they mean about the ps3/blu-ray? " but you'll need an HD TV and
Blu-ray/PS3 to truly get the best"

Any comments would be appreciated please.
Ta
Rod
