Hi Guys,

Apple have a support article on how to authorise/deauthorise and deauthorise
all machines here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014

In a nutshell if you can still access the machine that has the authorised
music you should be able to deauthorise via the Store menu in iTunes -
choose deauthorise. If you can't access the machine you could wait till all
5 authorisations are used open iTunes go the Store option choose Account
under the Quick Links section login and you will have a deauthorise all
button - you can only use this once a year though. I have and it's worked as
advertised.

Regards,

Chris.

Hi Mark, everyone,

We also have a problem with purchased iTunes files - the motherboard
in my G5 iMac PPC was replaced under warranty so now has a different
serial #. My daughter's purchased iTunes files had to be authorised
to the new serial #, thus using another of the permitted number of
devices (5 in total I believe), meaning that she has to de-authorise
another machine.

As it turns out, the replacement motherboard has a fault, so when we
get another new one (under warranty) that will use yet another iTunes
"life".

So, like Mark, does anyone know how to work around this to get back
the "lost" authorities?

Cheers
Tony Evers

Take a moment to consider - am I confusing wants with needs?
