I have a collection of USB cables, some from their age must be USB-1
but others almost certainly USB-2.
1. Am I correct that either type will work with USB-1 or USB-2
devices or ports but performance will revert to USB-1 if a USB-1 cable
is used?
2. How can I identify the two types? Are the fairly stiff cables
with silver braid in a clear plastic coating USB–2?
This issue arose from the arrival and installation of a FujiXerox
C525A color laser printer, purchased following recommendations from
several members - good advice I believe! I like it, though the less
than instant startup for the first page seems slow after an inkjet.
All worked straight off too on our three Leopard/Tiger machines on a
hybrid wireless/ethernet intranet. It is plugged into the USB port on
the Airport Extreme box and I merely stripped out the old printer
drivers, installed the Tiger ones and away I went. The Leopard driver
was already there in the Leopard install.
Thanks to all for the good tips
