I use Optus cable at the moment, with a bundle price of $49 or so from memory (I have an Optus mobile phone).
I¹ll be moving to Wembley shortly, and the address to which I'm moving doesn't have access to Optus cable according to the Optus web site, only DSL. I want to try and avoid DSL because I don't need a landline, so don't want to pay for something I don't need. The address has access to Bigpond cable, but not only do Bigpond prices look expensive, but I've always been anti-Telstra since too many bad experiences in their monopoly days. I'm currently on Optus's 'yes' Advantage plan, which has a 7GB monthly download allowance, plus another 14GB offpeak, which is about right for my usage. I prefer to have data speeds choked rather than start paying extortionate excess usage charges. I checked Virgin Broadband, but that has only a 2GB download limit without extra charges, plus requires a home phone. The other consideration I have is that I'm not sure how long I'll be at the Wembley address, so I'm not overly keen to get tied into long term contracts. Anyone have suggestions for other ISPs I should explore?
