Hi fellow WAMUGgers

Thank you for your emails in support of the issues that I am having with my computer. I thought I might offer some feedback on some of the suggestions that you have offered.

1. iStat Sensor

Hi Neil and Bill
Thank you for your response. By the sounds of it, the information that you have on your widget appears to be a little different from what I have to choose from. Please let me explain ...

When iStat appeared as a widget, I did check the info button in the top right corner. When it turned around to the back of the settings, there was limited information to choose from. This is what options there are: Style (a drop down list which contains options for four different colours) Colour (a drop down list which has three options relating to temperature - celsius,
                        fahrenheit and kelvin)
Show or Hide Temperature (with a CPU checkbox (for either on or off) below it Show or Hide Fans (with the message 'no fan sensors found' below it - no checkboxes or
     options).
The remaining options on this information panel, are buttons for 'Paypal' and 'Check for Updates'. That's it !!!. I did send an email to slayer, although I am not expecting a response in the short term - after all, it is the holiday season.

2. Mac/UB Games

Hi Jude
Thank you for your response. The games that I have tried to load are all Mac/Universal Binary games (I have never owned any windoze games), all bought within the past 12 months. The games that have failed to install due to the undetectable Intel Video Card, are predominantly simulation and strategy games, mostly from Aspyr and Feral. So far the Aspyr games failing to install, have included: The Sims 2, The Sims Life Stories and The Sims Pet Stories (both stand alone Sims games), Civilisation IV and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Other games which failed to install, include The Movies and Imperial Glory. I have others, which I haven't tried to install yet, due to absolute frustration. I have, however, been able to install a couple of the older games that work okay on my eMac, including Age of Empires II Gold Edition and Tropico 2.

Hi Susan
Thank you for your response. As noted above, all of the games that I have tried are up to date, and are Mac/Universal Binary. All are originals (no bootlegs) and theoretically, they should install, but ... I agree on your suggestion to take it back to the shop where it came from. Come the 14th January (when the shop reopens), I will be doing just that, in order to find out some answers (this is an expensive computer, and it took me a long time to save the money to buy it). The fan issue is still a bit of a worry. Last night when I was trying to install 'The Movies', the CoreDup Temp reading showed an average of 70-72 degrees celsius, and still no fans appeared to kick in. This occurred after midnight in a really cool room.

Again, thanks to all for your support and suggestions . It/they are very much appreciated. It is possible that I may have bought that one dodgy unit which exists in every shipment. It wouldn't be the first time (brings back nostalgic memories of my 2nd mac - my lemon - the Performa 5200CD ...). No matter how frustrated I get, it is not enough to see me heading for the dark side.

Thanks again to you all, and to WAMUG in general.

Best wishes to all for a safe and happy Mac Christmas and a Mac of a New Year. Take Care

Regards
Rosie
