Hi,
I have found that when USB memory sticks (thumb drives) that
after deleting some files that the capacity of the drive is reduced.
On further investigation, I find that if I then transfer that USB
memory stick to a windows computer there are additional directories/
files that have a name like 'trashes'. These apparently were put
there by OSX, and contain, I think, the previously deleted files.
If this is correct, then that would explain why the USB memory stick
capacity seems to reduce after deleting files in OSX.
I find that I can recover the memory capacity by doing a reformat
in Windows, or deleting in Windows these 'trashes' files/directories'.
But what can I do in OSX to stop them from appearing, or if they
are created, how can I get rid of them as they don't show up on the
OSX 'Finder'.
