It's a relatively new format that microsoft word uses and isn't
compatible with older versions of word regardless of whether your on a
pc or a mac.
I found a program that could convert them for Mac once (can't remember
what it is but you could try version tracker). It was a demo that
would put a big label across your document asking you to buy the
product so it won't work for anything that needs to be printed but you
can at least see some of what your after.

I've just had a couple of documents sent to me which I cannot open,
they are .docx, can anyone assist.
Also what about .xml ones? what sort are they?
