Thanks Ronni, I had twice deleted the plist file to no avail. Also I had found the music to some of the clips in the iTues Music file and deleted them. Still no joy.
But your suggestion worked. It had not occurred to me that iTunes was linked in some way to iMovies - apart from the background music. Your script worked straight away and now those trashed clips do not appear in the list of available items. One again I bow to your unlimited knowledge of all things Mac.
