Thank you, Ronnie, for the reassurance. I guess I will never know how
it got in the dock as I have no idea what the Terminal application does.
Thank you too, Greg Manzie, for introducing us to the MUG Group.
Best wishes,
Jennifer

Hello Ronnie,
A few minutes before reading your warning about "terminal" I had
seen in the dock an icon terminal unknown to me which I closed.
Am I likely to have done something drastic?
I am fairly ignorant about the technical aspects of computing (I
often don't understand the questions on this forum, let alone the
answers) and a relative newcomer to the wonderful world of the Mac.
It would be good to have your advice.
Thanks, Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
I don't think you have done anything drastic at all .... unless you
typed anything into Terminal ;-)
The Terminal Application 'lives' in Applications > Utilities, when
you open Terminal it displays in the Dock and will stay there until
you Quit it or Close it, the same as any other application.
Unless you have dragged the Terminal Application into the Dock for
ease of use, like I have.
If you want the Terminal icon out of your Dock, just drag it off the
dock and it will 'poof' and disappear.
Don't be afraid of asking questions on WAMUG, we all had to start
somewhere, and Computers are an ongoing learning experience.
Enjoy the wonderful 'Mac Way Of Life'.
Cheers,
Ronni
