Thanks David I've subsequently asked someone else about sat nav in the UAE and Garmin came up as the suggestion. I checked their web site, and it seems they do make a map for UAE. All good. Just a shame Tom Tom don't since I already have one of those.
Yes, jury still out on iPhone. I haven't plunged either way yet, but hoping for an iPhone solution before I have to buy. Someone mentioned you buy an iPhone from Optus unlocked, so wouldn't that work? I get confused with all this stuff.
