I'm lucky enough to have recently been given an iPhone to play with
and I think you could do worse than getting one of them. It all works
so easily. It combines my ipod, pda and phone into one slender package.
It replaces a Palm Treo which runs some version of windows. Not bad
but not great for syncing with my mac.
Prior to that I used a series of Palm PDAs for calendar & contact
info and only used the various basic mobile phones I had for making
and receiving calls.
It's always a good thing to have your contacts and calendar synced
with a computer somewhere. That way when someone nicks your phone or
you drop it, you can sync the replacement and get all the info back
in your pocket. My contacts and calendar info has been leapfrogging
from one device to another for years now. When my 20year high school
reunion came round last month i was able to retrieve all the contact
information I collected for the 10year reunion and hand it over to
those foolish enough to join the organizing committee this time round:-)
