Morning All,

Yeah price hit quite a shock as US gets a little relief. (AU$ we are better of than US but our dollar is going south???) Apple have not done much on previous models except for update processor and move things around in case.

In fact single CPU has taken a 1200 price hike and reduced available memory, still no Blu-Ray. Especially now that the argument has been sorted. Still looks unlikely to connect to that super IO highway via Serial ATA which is a necessity when burning Blu Ray disks.

So people will be weighing up what one can get on the other side of fence, or searching for alternatives. But, there is a lot of bang for your buck as High End Desktops are concerned; price comparison is tangible.

I know my current situation will not modify much, although the higher prices mean a larger tax relief if one can sustain income levels. Something I think we all are asking ourselves at moment, whilst reducing or sustaining charges to clients. A task made more difficult when governments are asking for restraint, as necessary services are reporting substantial increases into the near future.

This will test Apple faithful as alternatives are on the surface substantially cheaper, but productivity and relevant software becomes an issue. Something I believe in many circumstances the gap has closed, but certain industries have some variance or substantial increases to change. Then there is the Hackintosh factor!!!!

As a loyal Apple user for sometime now it gets disconcerting when Apple does not support local market. Yes I know we are a little blip on their radar, direct importation could make machinery little more competitive. Something Dell, HP, Sun, and other specialist US based companies have been doing for a while now, reference their US pricing against local?

Disappointed with upgrades, Apple missed an opportunity to move to the next level in digital media production. Life cycle of my current machinery to be extended, whilst utilising other alternatives to fill in an ever growing HD market. Alas the wait for HD - Blu Ray compatible FCP and DVD Pro looks like being a long time coming, oh well back to the many variations of achieving desired results. Sorry Apple!!!

Cheers!

Hi Ronni (and Paul)

No worries on that.
AS mentioned it was quite interesting to see it done, had been the first one
of those I'd seen.
Not something I could see a use for myself as when I'm on the road I prefer the large screen size and everything is on my 15" anyway, so I have it all
there that I need.
I had read a bit on forums about them too, where a lot of people had done it,..so to see one "in the flesh" was "a bit of a laugh". (And even the read
on it seemed all too easy, which was surprising).

Even more so now, with the MacPro pricing for the 8core being quite
expensive there are a lot more on forums (even US ones) talking about going that path as well. Shame really, the Mac hardware is very nice, it just seems a little pricing at the moment for the top end 8core MacPro. Still, I know some people will still buy them. (And I'm sure the USD has a bit to do
with it as well.)

Oh well, all fun and games.
(And sorry for the misunderstanding Ronni,..that lack of sleep I think is getting to me,..and everyone told me a new baby would be loads of fun,..I
want some more sleep! Lol) :o)

Enjoy!

Kind Regards
Daniel

I wish Apple would produce a small no-frills notebook like the Dell
