Hello all,
I have been using .Mac/MobileMe for a few years now and have found
that since I started using its e-mail service I have little or no
problems with junk or scam mail, I have also changed my ISP a couple
of times (I shop around for the best deals regularly,) I also use it
to host my domain name, which isn't a lot of use for commercial use
unless you sort out the search engine blocks Apple has on it to keep
the undesirables out. I also post lots of family activity pictures in
My Gallery and have it set up so family and friends can upload
pictures also, its a great way to keep up to date with eastern state
family, I also use iDisk to backup my important stuff, its also very
useful when we are on our annual sojourns to the east. All in all I
find it expensive but cant really do without it.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Paul, Philippe, et al
I have been using MobileMe in its paid form since just after '.Mac'
became a paid service.
For me just having an email address that does not have to change
regularly, but looks a bit more professional than a 'yahoo' or
'hotmail' address is worth it. Since getting my .mac email address
the home email account address has changed 3-4 times alone. The
other advantage is the 'push' email to my iPhone.
I am currently utilising the 'iDisk' service extensively. I have my
iDisk set up on the laptop and the desktop so that I can use it
offline, then syncs when they go online. This means that I can
access important documents from the laptop, the desktop or online
via the work computer, and always be working on the same document
instead of copies (once they sync). It also means by default that
they are backed-up in multiple locations.
Just this weekend I needed to scan a document and share it with
about 6 other people. But the size of the file meant I could not
email it. So I uploaded all the documents that I needed to
distribute to iDisk, then 'shared' them with the 6 people that
needed access, by clicking on the share button to send an email with
the link.
Last month I took photos as some special events. One of the events
had nearly 90 photos, so instead of emailing small batches of photos
or burning CD's, I set up a 'Web Gallery' using iPhoto and MobileMe
- all set up in iPhoto.
Whilst I am using it daily, I am sure that I have not yet taken full
advantage of all the MobileMe services available. I also suspect
that when 'iWork.com' finishes it's Beta phase that you will require
a MobileMe account to take full advantage. (I have only trialed
iWork09, and have not had the chance to use 'iWork.com')

Hi Paul and all,
Ah! To be or not to be? That is the question ... says Shakespeare.
Would you believe that I am asking myself the very same question,
although I have a .mac account with some activity, I have not used
any
other services as yet, and this after some some years of membership.
Sorry, but I do not have any suggestions, but like you will be
waiting
for someone to give me a good reason to renew. I know that the
membership fee would allow me to have a copy of iWorks + iLife (add a
few $s) which I want, instead ...
Here's waiting!!
Have a nice Sunday afternoon.

Hi All,
I'm currently considering letting my MobileMe account expire.
It's nice having access to my home contacts and calendar on the
iphone and
also being able to post things easily using iWeb, but it's not
essential.
What I would appreciate is any opinions on why I should keep it.
I'm aware
that there are free alternatives for almost everything I have
been using it
for and that there are some things I could be using it for if I
upgraded to
the latest operating system. Currently 10.4.11
Is there anyone out there who thinks thinks it's worth keeping?
At the
moment, I think I can find better ways to spend $119.00.
Cheers
