Ronni, I did this update a couple of days after it was released, and it took 4 minutes to download. So, it may not take all that long for that part, although installation and reboot was a wait. cheers, Susan.

Hi Peta,

Has your Husband previously connected his iPhone to his computer & done a sync in iTunes?
He needs to have set what he wants to sync to his iPhone in iTunes.

Then to download and install this update:
1. Your husband just needs to connect his iPhone to his computer and open iTunes (if it doesn't automatically open). 2. Then backup his iPhone, and sync (as he normally would when he connects his iPhone).

3. Then click on "Check For Update"
4. iTunes will download the file and install the update and his iPhone will do a restart.

Tell him it takes a long time to download and install this update.
The file is large ... It's a 297.9MB download.
It took me an hour to download the update & then a long time to install & reboot.

He must NOT disconnect his iPhone while doing this download and installation.
iTunes will let him know when it is safe to Disconnect the iPhone.
Disconnect the iPhone from within iTunes

Cheers,
Ronni

Hi

Further to Pedro's message of July 31 re sms security problem.

My husband has tried to open the 9-5 mac link given in Pedro's email (having just bought an iPhone), (http:www9to5mac.com/).

He is a bit confused as to where to go once he opens the link ,and as he is unfortunately limited as to the times he can access the net etc he is hoping for some extra help as soon as anyone is able to give this.

Would anyone be able to provide me with the next steps he needs to follow so I can carefully relay these to him?

Many thanks,

Peta
