Hi folks

Another Wamugger (Peter) has contacted me re "Clean my Mac" program with the same query, i.e when using the program is there any item I should not allow it to erase. I know Ronni uses it so if you are available Ronni can you help?

Hi John,

Using any Application similar to "CleanMyMac" you need to understand what it does, know what you are doing, and what damage it can do if used incorrectly!

There is a new version CleanMyMac 1.5.5 for Snow Leopard. You download & install it by using "Check for Updates" under CleanMyMac in the Menu bar of the application.

1. First thing to do is download the Manual and read it: <http://dl.macpaw.com/manuals/CleanMyMacUserGuide.pdf >

2. Read the Frequently Asked Questions: <http://macpaw.com/faq> & Forum: <http://forum.macpaw.com/index.php>

3. Set CleanMyMac's Preferences before you use it.

My Preferences are set at:
I DON'T check (tick) System Caches (Privileged)
I DON'T check (tick) System Logs (Privileged)
I DON'T check (tick) Universal Binaries

I DON'T check (tick) Overwrite files several times

I DON'T check (tick) Share your ignore list with other CleanMyMac users

Under Languages to keep:
I have 2 English Languages checked (ticked) .... You might want to keep more languages on your computer.

Under Scan:
I DON'T check (tick) Universal Binaries
I DON'T check (tick) Applications (I use AppZapper to remove any Apps I no longer require) You might wish to use CleanMyMac to remove unwanted apps. I DON'T check (tick) Quick Erase ( I prefer to drag any file to the trash and empty the trash) You might wish to use CleanMyMac to remove unwanted files.

4. Purchase and Activate CleanMyMac if you are going to use it.

I don't think there is much more information I can give you. You need to take care when using applications like this, know what you are removing before you remove it.

I have used CleanMyMac for quite some time and have never had a problem with it. But I take no responsibility.

Cheers,
Ronni
