Thanks for that Nicholas,

one thing you learn with 73 yrs of grey matter,(1) is never rush in, (2)everything comes to those that wait, but the big question now is CAN I WAIT !! ( with all its implications ! ) thanks to everyone, I shall now contemplate my dilemma at my leisure.

Hi Bill,

I would think iLife '10 & possibly iWork '10 will be updated in the next 4-5 months.
Macworld 2010 - February 9-13, 2010 might be a release date? .....

Except Apple will NOT be exhibiting at Macworld 2010...
I personally believe Apple will have one of their own media events late Feb/Early Mar to launch iWork & iLife

The updated versions I would expect take advantage of the new core services in Snow Leopard and be 64-bit.
But that would mean they will only run on Snow Leopard.

I suspect that is most likely to be correct

If you need iLife '09 & iWork '09 the "Mac Box Set" is a good price.
Otherwise wait until next year for the updated versions.

There are lots of advantages to the '09 versions over the '08 and early versions... and you basically get one of these thrown in for free when you buy the box set

Thanks for that Stuart,
I am aware of the " Mac Box Set " which I will get, I just didn't want to spend the money at this time if Ilife / Iwork 09 was going to be updated in January 2010, if it was then I would get it then, but if no-one knows then I will get it shortly.

Any time you like, Bill.

And by the way get the box set of iWork, iLife and Snow Leopard for a very very good price.

Got mine from Macs-4-u in Midland.

Be careful when updating to Snow Leopard making sure that you have no hidden fine of Time Machine otherwise you will not be able to install Swine Leopard unless you go to Terminal and delete/edit those file.

I don't know enough about hidden file but Macs-4-u sorted my iMac so I was then able to install Snow Leopard.
