Good afternoon all, Can someone give me a clue regarding Application Permissions, I have recently setup a new 27" iMac by migrating the data from my MacBook Pro, the process stalled with less than a minute to go and the only fix was to shut it down (on advice from Apple support,) when I restarted it every thing had been imported but I found that most of the folders and applications were locked, while I was able to rectify the locked folders on mass it was necessary to reset the permissions on many of the application before I could do anything with them i.e. edit & save existing documents etc.
In the Sharing & Permissions panel the following names and Privileges were listed in various combinations; _unknown Read & Write admin Read Only system Read Only everyone Read Only wheel Read Only In some cases _unknown was set as "the Owner" My question is: Who should be set as the Owner, Admin, System or should I add my name to the list and be the owner? Should the system be the nominated Owner for any particular application?
