The No 1 processor on my G5 1.8 dual processor Mac Pro has died. I plan to remove No 1 processor and replace it with the No 2 processor, assuming No 2 has not also died. I will therefore end up with a single-processor machine. Does anyone know if this will work, or if it is a dangerous plan?
I have done some homework about this problem, but information about it seems non-existent.
If anyone has a G5 1.8 DP Mac that has died for some other reason I, would be interested in it to cobble together one working machine.
