Ronni, once a new iTunes Library file was created every thing worked fine. Did not have anything in the original file and when I restored it it did not work. Just trashed to old one and used the new one.

Good stuff. Thanks.

Hi Stuart,

1: Open up “Finder” and browse to /Music/iTunes

2: Find the “iTunes Library” File and move it to your desktop.

3: Launch iTunes, Your library should be empty. Then Exit iTunes (Command+q). A new “iTunes Library” file should now be created in the iTunes folder in Music/iTunes/.

4: Restore the “iTunes Library” file from your desktop by dragging it back to the iTunes folder in Music/iTunes/ and Press Replace on the notification window.

5: You have now completed all the steps.
You may launch iTunes, hopefully getting rid of the “Locked iTunes Library File” error.

Cheers,
Ronni

I'm getting this message when Ion onto my Intel iMac (not most recent) running Snow Leopard.

"The itunes Library file is locked. on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for tis file"

It seemed to happen when I installed and/or updated VMWare Fusion.

What have I done or what do I have to do?
