Hi again,
No good news. Unless someone comes up with something out of the bag, this Mac Mini is on it's way to the doctor in Joondalup.
I've:
reset the PRAM.
Erased the disk and zeroed out all sectors
Reinstalled OSX 10.6
On start up
I see the grey/white screen with the Apple logo and spinning wheel for about
1:30 minutes.
Then I get the blue screen for varying times between 4 minutes and 5:30
minutes. This is far too long I believe and indicates some thing wrong inside
the hardware.
Whilst the mouse cursor can move around, the keyboard and mouse clicks are
unresponsive. I now note that the second flasher on the time is not blinking -
tho this may be it's default setting and I don't feel like restarting it again
just to check this minor issue. To me, my Mac is broken.
I've tried a different mouse with no change.
Given I bought this Mac Mini to replace a G5 iMac with swollen capacitors only
in April this year, I'm less than impressed at the moment. :-(
Suggestions still welcome.
