Hi Finally received my new MBP (15” i7) on Tuesday. Came with 10.6.3 installed have installed the 10.6.4 combo update and it is great – faster by miles than my late 2008 unibody 15” MBP BUT
1. It has a really annoying vibration that is uncomfortable to work with that is maximal to the right of the track pad – just where your wrist rests when using the key board. I have searched the net and the vibration seems to be an issue for some machines with the 500GB 7200RPM hard disk and many have had their machines replaced due to this. There appears to be no solution but I thought I would check to see if list members had come across this and found a resolution not involving return to sender! Especially as it took so many weeks to arrive. 2. Battery lasts much less than expected, but I am only on its third cycle of discharge recharge so may improve. Regarding battery life it would appear to be related to the automatic switching between video cards and getting stuck on using the NVidia graphics processor with some applications though I have have only been using the web, email and office programs so far. It would seem a firmware update is needed from Apple so you can manually select Nvidia or integrated processor if one wants better battery performance. Again nothing available yet that I can see, any inside knowledge appreciated.
