If it is the model that can easily be opened to inspect the board it is also the model that suffers from Capacitor Plague. If ANY caps appear at all bulged or have a brownish mark on the top it is trash I'm afraid. >From what you have said I would be looking for one that has actually popped open, should be hard to miss ;-)
