Not sure if anyone has answered the iPad not charging question yet, this is a known issue.
See: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060 I have the same issue on my Mac Book Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo / 2.33Ghz model) the USB port doesn't give enough power to charge my iPad so I just use the power adapter instead. To create a new contact, tap the plus button, type the relevant information into the proper fields, and tap Done. Is it not allowing you to do this?
