Since I moved from Woodbridge (a very old suburb) 18 months ago to Jane Brook (a new suburb) my download speed fell from 600 cps to 30 cps. I was with Westnet. I contacted them several times regarding this and was told that there was nothing that they could do about it.
I discovered this was because, even though I kept my old phone number, Jane Brook is serviced by a Midland Sub Exchange whereas Woodbridge is serviced by the main Midland exchange. I recently found that the only ISP with ADSL2+ equipment in the Sub Exchange is Telstra. So I switched last week from Westnet to Bigpond. My download speed is now 520 cps. I would have preferred to remain with Westnet but the speed issue was just too frustrating !
