This is the first I've had clearly spelt out that this would be happening. Is
it fair to assume this is correct and that apple will not provide an
alternative for existing customers?

This is not specifically a Sandvox issue - it applies to anyone relying on
MobileMe as a website host, no matter what the creation platform they have
used, be it Sandvox, iWeb, or anything else. Steve Jobs has already let it be
known in no uncertain terms that Apple will not be providing an alternative.

Perhaps the best place to start might be to investigate the services offered by
your own ISP, but there are plenty of reasonably priced alternatives around
town, including our own Web In A Box (http://www.trinitylismore.com/).

What about our own local Hosting Services WA, a Subsidiary of MacWizardry?

"HostingServicesWA was set up as a subsidiary of MacWizardry originally to
offer clients a “full package”.
Since it’s introduction it’s now grown into it’s own business.
We try to offer a great priced package for “the average person” without blowing
your budget. And no contracts!”

I have been using "Hosting Service WA" for nearly 12 months and only once was there a short drop out. Easy to edit on line or use your own html page maker and load using using a client such as Interarchy (which I do).
