Hi All -- -- My sister-in-law asked me to look at a problem on her fairly new iMac, and although I was able to sort something out, use of the iMac was greatly hindered by unwanted appearance of drop-down menus. For example, trying to log into gmail, if you clicked on the box for username, up would come a drop-down menu starting with Copy / Edit / Paste. Clicking anywhere on a page in most applications also would bring up these menus.
-- Mostly the menu would disappear on typing Return, and usually the box could then be typed into. Sometimes, though, clicking on a blank box would not select it. I tried to run Repair Permissions on her machine, but although I could select her main drive, I was unable to select the RP option. -- Has anyone any ideas on this? The iMac does have a wireless keyboard (which I'm unfamiliar with), but can't think that this would be relevant. I couldn't find anything useful on Apple Help regarding menus. TIA.
