Hi Peta, As Daniel has suggested. You can export the slideshow as a m4v file through iPhoto to itunes itself, then it is a movie file as any other and you can play it through the Apple TV2.
Or you could try, but from reading what you posted looks like you might have & it doesn’t work ;-) : 1. Save the slideshow as normal in iPhoto. 2. Then go into Apple TV, select “computers” your computer, then select "photos", then on the bottom you have your "albums" .... under that line will be your slideshow name that you created. 3.Select it to play.
