Hi Laura,

I wonder if you have inadvertently set you iPod app on your iPad to play at
two-times normal play speed. To check you can do the following

1) while a podcast is playing tap the cover so that you see a scrubber bar
along the top of the screen as well as volume and pause play controls
2) just to the right of the scrubber bar is a small white square that contains
text that will say on of the following
    1X, 2X, or 1/2X

if this square contains the text 2X, tap it until you see 1X

Cheers,
Carlo
