Hi Stuart, Are you meaning on your iPhone or computer? On your iPhone you have always been able to tap the phone number of a contact in Contacts (Address Book) and phone? On the iPhone 4S, you can also ask Siri to phone anyone in your Contacts.
I don’t know how I ever did without Siri, she is a wonderful Personal Assistant.
