Hi Adrian, I don't know if you want to try this or just leave it to the guy at the markets, but in case you haven't seen this clip or similar, here is a youtube video showing how to change the battery:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmEVVLSRQp4 The important (secret) step is to apply pressure to the centre of the back silver casing so you can insert the spudger -- or whatever else you call the plastic tool required. If you were not applying pressure to the case, no gap will open up and you may have trouble getting the spudger between the back case and the front of the iPod. You will also need a flat head jeweller's screw driver to remove the battery cable. If you want to risk it you could bring your iPod and the tools along to the next meeting, and we could do the replacement for you. Or you may prefer more experienced hands.
