Hi all WAMUGGERs. Due to unforeseen circumstances (not related to the proposed name change), the special general meeting planned for Tuesday, 2 October 2012 has been cancelled. It is envisaged that a special general meeting will be called to coincide with the December monthly meeting to be held on Tuesday 4 December 2012, however, you will be informed well in advance of the new date. Suffice to say it won't be in November.
Part of the reasoning is that our constitution has been examined by the Department of Commerce and, although they are generally happy with it, they have highlighted certain points that technically do not conform with the Associations Incorporation Act 1987. Consequently, they have 'strongly recommended' that we amend our constitution to reflect the Act. These changes are not major but are important. The postponement of the special general meeting will also allow these special resolutions to be incorporated into the meeting and voted on as well. The committee apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused but feel that the postponement is the appropriate thing to do.
