Hi Jennifer One thing to try is to delete the printer on both machines (System Preferences - Print & Scan - highlight the printer and use the minus (-) sigh to remove. ). Once deleted add the printer back on your iMac then make sure you can print again. Then in System Preferences - Sharing. Untick and re-tick Printer sharing to reactivate it.
Then on the laptop add back the shared printer in System Preferences - Print & Scan. Then see how the print job goes. Try that and see how goes. If the printer is on the way out though, then possibly cheaper to buy a new one then try to fix. (Epson make some great fully wireless printer/scanner units that are true wireless so don't require printer sharing or the iMac to even be on. And wirelessly scan very easy as well. And not too expensive which is good. Just as a side note). Hope that helps.
