Hi Ronni, Why are you trying to connect to your iMac from your MacBook Air?
*To transfer audio etc from 1 to the other.* Aren't you trying to connect to your Home Apple Airport Wi-Fi Network? *I'm connected, it took it's time but it's OK now.* Joining you home Airport Wi-Fi Network has nothing to do with resetting the root password on the iMac. It also has nothing to do with one Mac running Mavericks and another running Mountain Lion or any other device running iOS7 or iOS6. You should be running a Airport Base Station Network. *I am* Are you sure you are trying to connect to the correct Wi-Fi Network? In the Finder Menu bar under the *Wi-Fi Symbol* - Do you see your Wi-Fi Network there and can select it? If so is it showing full 4 bars connection You should see any Wi-Fi Network that is within range. *Yes , Network is connected..trying to connect directly to Imac for transfer purposes.* On your MacBook Air - 1. Go to *System Preferences > Network* Location: *Automatic* 2. *Select the Wi-Fi connection* in the list of network services on the left. 3. Click the *Advanced* button at the bottom right of the window. In the *Wi-Fi view's Preferred Networks* list, you'll see every wireless network you've ever used. *I must have set it up with a WEP password, says: WPA2 Personal.* This is where your Mac remembers Wi-Fi details that enable it to connect automatically the next time that network is available. Since this is the first Network you have connected to, it should only show your Home Network Make sure '*Remember networks this computer has joined*' is selected *Yes it's ticked.* 4. Find the desired *wireless network * *name* in the list and select it. 6. Then click on TCP/IP Configure IPv4: Using DHCP IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.7 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 10.0.1.1 *IPv4 Address is: 192.168.0.7* *Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0* *Router: 192.168.0.1* The Subnet Mask & Router Address should be the same on your iMac, the IPv4 Address should be different. Thanks Ronni -- Thanks & regards, Ken Jackson EMAIL ETIQUETTE: When forwarding this email, please have the courtesy to respect the privacy and confidentiality of the sender by deleting all previous email trails and addresses before you use BCC to forward this email to others.
