Many thanks Ronni. I did as you advised and the sound control panel has returned. I ran permissions repair twice and the list was very long!. I also ran Disc Warrior as the disc utility seemed to freeze at one point,but DW did the trick and all is Tickedy Boo! Ronni for President!! :-)
