Yep, it's a good piece of software. I've been using that for about 3-4 years or 
so,..works well.
The same happens if you "make" a Fusion Drive yourself (or Core Storage Drive 
which is more the "Real" technical name). It does the same thing. Install that 
programs, and it works well to control the fan noise.
Well worth the money for it :))
(and a "home made" Fusion Drive works well, as you then get the same benefit of 
space, but with the benefit of the behind the scenes SSD,….very useful).

Glad you saw the benefit of the software though,…you'll keep in your arsenal 
for useful software for quite some time :))

Can never have enough space,…or good software,….lol ;))
