Some little time back I detailed my difficulty with non playing optical fibre
link from TV to a Bose Soundbar while a similar AV link played fine, if at a
(probably) lower quality. After some research I discover that the problem is
due to feeding the TV from a Panasonic recorder by HDMI cable rather than
playing the TV direct from the antenna. The audio optical coding from HDMI to
TV to digital optical output can not be decoded by the Bose - the analog AV is
essential not subject to such digital restrictions!
Severin Crispis of course fine. The solution is an cdmi splitter to peel off
the audio, format it and feed it straight to the Bose, bypassing the TV. I
await the result eagerly!
Many thanks to all, especially Ronni who as usual gave a full coverage to me.
Sadly I never mentioned the HDMI feed from the recorder, it seemed irrelevant
at the time!
