Hi
It is possible that this issue is caused by a newer version of iOS not
working with an older version of OSX. My wife had this message last
week. I looked into it and came up with this site:
http://www.mac-forums.com/iphone-hardware-and-accessories/328322-sync-issues-itunes-11-4-ios-9-0-1-osx-10-6-8-a.html
Sync issues itunes 11.4 IOS 9.0.1 OSX 10.6.8
Last year, A version of iTunes 11.4 was available for people who were
unable to sync their music when a certain update in IOS 8 was issued.
It worked and all was good. I purposely did not update my iPhone to
9.0 when it came out, because i figured I would run into the same
issue. I DID update to 9.0.1 the other day, and sure enough, my iTunes
version 11.4 won't sync to my iPhone w/ IOS 9.0.1.
There doesn't seem to be an easy workaround.
Gary, are you running an old version of OSX - e.g. 10.6.8?

Hello Gary,

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home Button at the
same time for at least 10 seconds.
2. Ignore the Red Slider that appears on the screen and keep holding
both buttons until the Apple Logo appears.
Release the buttons, the iPhone will restart.
You might need to Reboot both iPhone and your computer.
Somewhere between the phone and the computer something in the
software is frozen and not allowing the connection.
If still having the problem:
Check your USB connections - use the cable that came with your
iPhone, switch to another USB port on your computer.
If still having the problem - Is this a jailbreak iPhone?
Cheers,
Ronni

Hi WAMUG
The other day, a family members iPhone accidentally dropped into a
toilet bowl! and no longer starts ups . This phone hadn't been
backup up for some time, thus a few months of photos, lecture
notes, ideas and the like evidently can not be recovered - so say
Apple.
Thus I take this opportunity to remind members to routinely back up
your iPhones ; if you have anything important on them you want to
keep - just in case a wet accident occurs.
