Hi Sev, I'm lagging a bit - finally, with some reluctance but accepting the increasing need, I'm moving on from Snow leopard ;o)
I'm currently upgrading a 2007 24" iMac to El Capitan (as far as that model will go) and after years of successive migrations I've decided to start with a completely clean slate - full erase and clean install and then take the opportunity to re-organise what I bring over and what can be deleted/archived - I have both clone and TM backups of the old set-up so I should only lose what I want/need to lose!! Going fairly smoothly so far but one thing I have learnt is not to believe OSX's estimates of "time remaining" !!! - but it generally gets there in the end ;o) Next cab off the rank will be the 2008 MacBook Pro which also tops out at El Capitan. Then time to rebuild the 2009 i7 27" iMac - replacing & upgrading failed HD, replacing superdrive with an SSD and fitting even more RAM. This machine will be upgradeable to High Sierra but I think I'll just go with all 3 machines running El Capitan while I move up the learning curve from SL - a lot has changed from 10.6 to 10.11! When I finally get the main 27" iMac up to speed, Georgie will inherit the 24" iMac - a big step up from the 20" G5 iMac running Leopard 10.5! Cheers Neil -- Neil R.
