Making the most of WAMUG before the AGM which I think is cut off day.

I have an 18 year old Nokia on Vodaphone 2G ‘No Plans’, just pay for calls,
only person who has the number Graham, basically we make do with his iPhone.
When my beloved iPod Classic’s battery gave out I replaced it with a prepaid
iPhone SE because I knew the Nokia would not last for ever. Did not activate
the SIM.

Vodaphone are closing the 2G network in May so I decided to move my number to
iiNet. The SIM arrived and on Saturday I was going to install it but I have
lost the iPhone. I have not used it since Monday when I swapped phones with
Graham because I am in contact with a Telstra technician about an intermittent
outage on our main landline which I discovered the Friday before, still ongoing.

I am fairly sure my iPhone is in the house, we have searched extensively, no
luck. I got Telstra to check if the SIM had been activated, answer no. They
then activated it, told me to wait for 24 hours before trying. The iPhone was
turned on but I couldn’t remember whether it needed charging. The Telstra girl
told me she had turned up the ring time to 30 sec then she claimed she rang it.
We heard nothing, our house isn’t large, 30 sec is plenty of time to check all
rooms.

Yesterday I tried in the house and near the car but it didn’t ring even once,
went straight to Message Bank. I assume this indicates it is now turned off but
I am puzzled about the 30 sec bit. The girl had an Asian accent and I am a bit
deaf so maybe I misunderstood. Telstra have no way of tracking it.

It would help to know if it is in the vicinity before I take the place apart, I
am snowed under with things to do. Find My iPhone won’t work if the iPhone is
turned off, I don’t even know if FMI was turned on, I don’t remember doing it
but maybe it is turned on by default. The Telstra girl said she rang for 30
sec, if that is true it must have used the last bit of charge.

I am very stressed at present and having trouble thinking straight. Anyone have
any ideas? Please will someone tell me whether what the Telstra girl told me is
feasible and confirm the only way to find the iPhone is physically.

My brother-in-law found his iPhone after 5 months in the freezer!
