Soccer Peter? Football if you don’t mind. You would be reprimanded for swearing at my grandson’s Football Club for using that word. The word “soccer” is simply an abbreviation for “association” as in Association Football. It was coined over a hundred years ago by British upper class schools to distinguish it from “rugger” (rugby). But then dropped by the British in the early 19 hundreds.
