From https://support.apple.com/guide/security/firewall-seca0e83763f/1/web/1 <https://support.apple.com/guide/security/firewall-seca0e83763f/1/web/1> > "macOS includes a built-in firewall to protect the Mac from network access > and denial-of-service attacks. It can be configured in the Security & Privacy > preference pane of System Preferences" I don’t know NordVPN, so don’t know whether it would affect macOS, but I suspect it would cane the battery in iOS, if left on when not in use. macOS includes 5 built-in security features: 1. XProtect – anti-malware – auto-boots with OS 2. Mac Firewall – a per-application firewall configured via System Preferences > Security or Security & Privacy > Firewall 3. FileVault – disk encryption System Preferences > Security & Privacy > FileVault I believe this is on by default in Big Sur (but don’t quote me) 4. Mac GateKeeper – file download/app installation protection – protects the user from inadvertently installing something malicious 5. Find My Mac (tracking tool) – enabled via System Preferences > iCloud VPN creates a digital ‘tunnel’ that hides your wanderings on the web. I’m not sure that that makes the above redundant, e g: you could inadvertently download malware via your ‘tunnel’. Regards Peter Regards, Stephen Chape
