Hello Fellow WAMUGGERS, Firstly, of all on behalf of the committee I wish everyone a happy and improved 2021 and I hope your Christmas season was spent with loved ones and companions. Now for the serious stuff.Over the years, governments have put in place recommendations and laws regarding the operations of banks throughout Australia Some of these are to ensure criminal networks, ponzi schemers and the like do not find and exploit loopholes that allow them to launder money, and do other financial 'bad' things. What has this to do with WAMUG membership payments.? And no, I am not writing this from a beach in the Caribbean. This year Peter Botman, resigned from his role as WAMUG Treasurer. Bernard Barnwell has stepped in to fill WAMUG's financial shoes. This meant there had to be changes made to the signatories for the WAMUG account and that has not been as easy as we expected. However, on the plus side we are finding how difficult it is to fiddle the books and diddle WAMUG out of its finances. So as things are still in process ,would you please refrain from sending in any payments until further notice. This gives us the opportunity to ensure the change-over is completed to the bank's satisfaction. Kind regards, Maureen Smith
