Hi Blitto, thanks for the additional detail there. With preparing and sending 10 movie files, is there a way to confirm with one file up front to confirm file type compatibility prior to going to all that effort?
Also, perhaps if we know the make/model of Smart TV for the recipient, we can do some online sleuthing to even confirm prior to any further work what file type is compatible? A quick Google search for Sony smart TV’s yielded the following. I think the Handbrake (application) will be able to make an export file of the movies to suit whatever the recipient’s TV make/model is. Also important to know is the maximum single file size limit of 4GB for Ex-Fat formatted USB’s. Supported file formats for Android TV™/Google TV™: The file formats that are supported by Media Player from the Google Play Store are: Audio: AAC, FLAC, MP3, MIDI, Vorbis, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, PCM/WAVE, WMA, AC3, DTS Video: H.263, H.264 AVC,H.265 HEVC, MPEG-4 SP, VP8, VP9 (4K TV only), WMV, VP6, MJPEG Regards Pete. > On 2 May 2022, at 9:40 am, Rod Blitvich <[email protected]> wrote: > > Thanks everyone > I think I will go .mp4 > I’ve got 10 movies to send and have compressed them from 4k to 2.7k, each one > is still 2 or 3 gb > cheers > Blitto > > <image.gif> > > > Rod Blitvich - Amy & Sam’s Dad > . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . > [email protected] <x-msg://329/[email protected]> > > > >> On 1 May 2022, at 3:34 pm, Stephen Chape <[email protected] >> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> Good idea Pete. >> >> I also have an account with Syn.com <http://syn.com/> ( a Canadian company). >> I can upload up to 5GB to my account for no charge (more than Dropbox) >> Then from Sync.com <http://sync.com/> I send an email to a recipient with a >> link to download. >> This works really well as I have relatives in UK and in Dubai. >> >> >>> On 1 May 2022, at 3:21 pm, Pete <[email protected] >>> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >>> >>> Yes, I’d have thought .mov or if that fails try mp4. >>> >>> Alternatively, is there a way via Sending the files via a cloud service >>> (like Google Drive) for the recipient to grab at their end by their smart >>> tv? >>> >>> >>> Regards >>> >>> Pete >>> >>>> On 1 May 2022, at 2:28 pm, Stephen Chape <[email protected] >>>> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >>>> >>>> Hi Rod. >>>> I have always used MOV for that purpose. >>>> Only ever had one TV that would not speak that language. >>>> >>>>> On 1 May 2022, at 12:00 pm, Rod Blitvich <[email protected] >>>>> <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >>>>> >>>>> Hi Folks >>>>> I am sending some movies on a USB drive to someone who wishes to view on >>>>> their smart TV. >>>>> Will .mov on a standard USB drive work ok for them? >>>>> Thank you >>>>> Blitto >>>>> >>>>> <image.gif> >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> Rod Blitvich - Amy & Sam’s Dad >>>>> . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . >>>>> [email protected] <x-msg://329/[email protected]> >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> >>>>> -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- >>>>> Archives - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml >>>>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml>> >>>>> Guidelines - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml >>>>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml>> >>>>> Settings & Unsubscribe - >>>>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug >>>>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug>> >>>> >>>> >>>> Regards >>>> Stephen Chape >>>> >>>> Mac by choice >>>> Windows because my employer knew no better >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- >>>> Archives - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml >>>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml>> >>>> Guidelines - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml >>>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml>> >>>> Settings & Unsubscribe - >>>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug >>>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug>> >>> -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- >>> Archives - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml >>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml>> >>> Guidelines - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml >>> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml>> >>> Settings & Unsubscribe - >>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug >>> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug>> >> >> >> Regards >> Stephen Chape >> >> Mac by choice >> Windows because my employer knew no better >> >> >> >> >> >> -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- >> Archives - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml >> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml>> >> Guidelines - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml >> <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml>> >> Settings & Unsubscribe - >> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug >> <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug>> > > -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- > Archives - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml> > Guidelines - <http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml> > Settings & Unsubscribe - > <http://lists.wamug.org.au/listinfo/wamug.org.au-wamug>
